Their iconic style and functionality is more advanced than ever. Drawers give you the chance to view your data from any angle, which makes drawing different objects much easier (with tools, tips, views)
The drawers are located in many different places in Blender’s UI, and you can deactivate them in the user preferences.
All drawers have the standard attributes (fade, menu) but you can also create custom attributes.
You can even create custom attributes for the K-Tools and the menu right-click menu!

A new selection, the K-Tools, with a simple interface are placed in the header of Blender’s header menu on left and right and you can open it with a key press. It gives a quick access to the K-Tools in Blender’s UI. The properties of the different tools are right here, so you don’t even have to go to the Tool Shelf to change those.

Good idea Numbering versions is a good way to find better version a new technical features. But people want stability of software. This Blender version could be less stable than last version. And they might want other versions too. So two LTS might come before Blender 3.2 is.And that’s why there could be a release every 2 quarters.

Im not so hot about the proposal of using the year as a numbering scheme either. 2.79b was released in 2017 and 2.80 was released in 2019. If the blender organization are working on major releases, they might have to skip a year and that would be confusing. Im someone who doesnt upgrade my blender versions regularly and prefer to use the bug fixed releases, for example 2.81a instead of 2.82.

The old blender development system before grc got involved was pretty bad, usually for your 30 minutes estimate of a new feature you got 3 months. There was no estimate by people and just ask people to do it and so time passed and lots of things were missed.

If you want a solid LTS version, go with 3.0. We should have an LTS version as soon as Blender gets updated to 3.0. Blender will always remain the open source software you can work in. But as long as we’re not in the business software, it makes no sense to create LTS-Versions if this creates a burden on the shoulders of the developers. And if we in the end feel bad that this wasn’t a LTS-version, then who will ever use it? So I agree, the LTS-Version is not a big deal. But we in the community should speak up!

If you want a stable, mature Blender, then go with 3.0. The Road to 3.1 was not easy either. There is a reason that the company that created Blender, Macromedia, now has two products: FuseFX which is a composite application and is in fact, a stock in trade application and Ardour (recording studio) which was originally created by the same developer. The reason is money. Macromedia is in the product business, and gets paid well for every extra dollar that they make. For Blender, this means that if you are a student, artist, or hobbyist, Blender will continue to be a hobby with occasional bursts of interest. The development will slow, and that means that Blender will stagnate unless new people are hired that can help Blender to grow and scale. For us at the Blender Foundation, this means that if you are a student, artist, or hobbyist, you will continue to enjoy Blender for a long time. The project will scale, and that means that the developer will have the necessary time to commit to the project that they love. If you are a company, student, or artist, who needs a product that is ready to scale quickly and massively, than Blender is not for you.

Main benefits of Blender 3D 3.2.1

Main benefits of Blender 3D 3.2.1

I find it interesting that blender can switch to support multiple file extension without the program breaking down, and that blender doesn’t need a million different versions of itself to do this, just two or three. When I first found it, it was really exciting.

I’m glad we’re moving away from 5 year releases, that was not a good idea. I’m also glad that the future of Blender development is a good one, I remember the firestorm of developers after 3.2 release, we needed to explain that we are not shrinking the API. But in the future it would be easier for experienced users to understand why there is change, is it a bugfix or an upgrade to the public api ?

Blender is the main user-favorite software for all kinds of users. Thanks for the good work on this release, I hope it will be a lot of work on the next versions. One thing more: if we had the possibility to change the rendering engine of Blender, for example to Cycles, without changing the source code, it would be amazing. It doesn’t matter for the final result for users but it would give Blender better options in the future. Also it will make sure that future versions are supported by Cycles, like 3.5/6/7/8. At the moment, you can’t do that: if you make an add-on for 3.4, it will work only in 3.4. Y’know, it would be awesome to support Blender with Cycles in this way.

Sounds like great news that Blender is returning to its roots. The only thing I have is that all the cool objects that come in Blender are originally from either the Klaytons or the Blender Institute. I’d be afraid that all the best textures and animations will be out there and then the Blender Foundation will loose to much (content) after.

Blender 3D 3.2.1 Features

Blender 3D 3.2.1 Features

  • UI was the most major improvement, a real step forward in usability compared to previous versions.
  • The UI got completed a lot, now buttons are placed in the right location, labelled properly and the UI itself is not hidden to much.
  • The external data importer seems now more complete and better, its becoming less lagged.
  • The flexible mouse-driven find feature is working surprisingly fine.
  • After several hours of searching and toggling and I always end up accidentally pressing “R” or something like that – it finally got saved as “Assign to selected object”.
  • 2.7/2.8 features are working. I mean, its not stable on my systems yet. The available features were not yet marked. (The lenses were disabled.)
  • They added a 2.5 feature, I think they’re working to import rigs from Sketchup format. I haven’t tested it yet.
  • UV Tools are working, more or less.
